About us

What is Baby Yoga Adventures?

Full of giggles, belly kisses, and silly noises, Baby Yoga Adventures are themed online baby yoga classes for you and your baby to practise at home together! Suitable for babies aged 3 months plus, every session contains a unique mixture of stimulating sensory play, interactive yoga postures, animal impressions and breathing exercises, baby massage tips and techniques, and simple story telling brought to life. It’s all about having fun and playing together, whilst also getting some yoga, movement, and mindfulness into your day. We hope our adventures bring you both delight, a deeper feeling of connection, and inspire you to move and play more creatively together!

Made with you in mind

Baby Yoga Adventures are structured to support you on your postpartum journey. Every session contains low impact Yoga and Pilates exercises, carefully chosen to gently build strength and mobility following childbirth, with a special focus on core stability, functional movement, and postural work. Suitable for all levels of fitness and experience, even if you’ve never done yoga before- it can also be a great way to get dad’s, grandparents, and other family members involved too!

Ready when you are

Each adventure is just under half an hour long, making it the perfect fit between feeding and nap time. With our online video sessions you can pause, play and rewind at your pleasure, and enjoy your favourite sessions as many times as you like, wherever and whenever takes your fancy. No more missing out on a class that you’ve already paid for because it’s baby’s feeding and nap time – Baby Yoga Adventures are designed to work around you and fit to your schedule.

Learning through play...

Our adventures are full of interactive sensory games to captivate your baby whilst also supporting their early cognitive development, so you can rest assured knowing that you’re making the most of every moment together. From exploring object permanence (did someone say peekaboo?) and understanding cause and effect (what goes up must come down!) to assisting with concentration and memory (where is the bell?) and encouraging social-emotional awareness (let’s meet the happy cow!). Every class also includes the use of 1 or 2 props from our Sensory Box, providing you with a range of exciting and stimulating objects to help guide their attention and have them giggling with delight.

Born to move...

Each class is packed with fun activities to assist your baby’s physical development too. Gently encourage your baby on their quest towards toddlerhood as they learn how to roll, sit, crawl, and take those first wobbly steps! As well as providing you with an array of alternative ideas for tummy time, every adventure also includes at least one weight bearing or strengthening activity for baby, simple baby yoga postures, and baby massage to increase their body awareness and help them to explore their physicality. For the more adventurous among us, there’s even some flying lessons and baby acrobatics thrown in there too! Check out the Baby Skills Spotlight Section next to each class to find out what baby will be working on today

Meet the teacher

Baby Yoga Adventures are brought to you by fully-qualified mum and experienced Yoga and Pilates teacher Roo Lloyd-Frith and her baby Seb, as seen on the BBC documentary Life and Birth.

Roo has been working in the health and fitness industry for over a decade, and has trained with various yoga schools across the globe. She began teaching yoga in 2015 after gaining her 200 hour yoga teaching qualification, on top of 100 hours Hatha Spiritual Foundation, and has completed trainings in both Family and Partner yoga with Rainbow Yoga. To compliment her powerful yoga practise, she also teaches Pilates and has a Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Mat Pilates. Birmingham based, she teaches principally at the University of Birmingham, and also offers private sessions,1-to-1 trainings and speciality workshops for her students.

Roo began Baby Yoga Adventures in 2019, whilst on maternity leave with Seb. Born from a love of movement, and a desire to connect with her new baby, these Adventures all began as just a few minutes of play each day during Seb’s tummy time.

Following complications around the event of Seb’s birth, Roo unfortunately suffered with severe pelvic floor trauma, pelvic ligament damage, and multiple organ prolapses,  and consequently she received regular treatment from a specialist pelvic physio at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Struggling to find the balance between bonding with her newborn and her own physical and emotional recovery, Roo wanted to find a way of incorporating her phyiso exercises with Seb’s awake time. She began to play around with trying to make the exercises more interactive and fun for Seb. The results were tenfold. Not only did she find the sessions, when practised daily,  an effective physical workout, she also found herself feeling more connected with Seb, more empowered in her new role as a mother, and more open and energised, despite those sleepless nights!

As Roo grew more confident in her postpartum body and her role as a new mum, she began sharing her baby-based-exercises with some of her fellow Brummy mummys. It was an instant hit, and with their emphatic support and encouragement behind her, she started filming her classes and offering them to a wider audience in the form of 10 minute Mini-Baby Yoga Adventures available online. Once again, the sessions were met with resounding praise and much gratitude from other mums, especially from those who were stuck at home with their little ones during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Today, you can enjoy all of our full length 30 minute Baby Yoga Adventures via our gorgeous new website, and also discover our Baby Yoga Adventures Sensory Box, packed with 12 sensory items to keep your little explorers entertained while you practise together. We hope you find as much joy and delight in our Adventures as we did, and wish you the very best in whatever other adventures the future holds.

With much love, light, and laughter,

Roo and Seb xx
